My father is a survivor of pancreatic cancer. I've seen how bad it can get and how depressing it can be. This man actually died to it, and he was content the whole time he knew. This man deserves a holiday.

@NumRand He was my professor. I was at the hall. This is the first time I've heard your interpretation about his talk. You felt like it was self indulgence. Yes, you could say that at first glance. But if you really know him, this is a dying man opening up and submitting his entire life to us. He is describing it so we can learn from it, analyze it, love it, live like it. This is kind of like "whole life flashes before him" in an hour thing. It is his GIFT to us all, especially his children.

The lecture is great, but the book is much better. Those making comments about Randy being self-absorbed may find themselves feeling contradictory after thumbing through his book...it's an easy read and explains his intent much better.

Sawyer does a good job condensing Randy's Last Lecture. I will share this version with my adult children and know that some of Randy's positive philosophy will rub-off on them. I hope they watch all five episodes. From the suburbs of Philadelphia...Rick Trivane 12-23-10 Merry Christmas to all!
