@kevinocooldaddy As easy of a target as Yoko may have been, she wasnt responsible for this take being axed. John himself had a hand in deciding that it didnt make the album. This track just didnt fit in with the production and sound of the other songs by the band he used for the rest of the record. This version is much more raw and powerful than the slicker version that ended up on the album.

@sirwob Your facts are incorrect. This version was recorded at the Hit Factory in NYC, Aug. '80 after John returned from Bermuda. After this session, which to me is much better than the Double Fantasy version, the dreaded Yoko had to write the Cheap Trick boys a check for $3,000 for their session time, money well spent in my opinion ... too bad this version didn't make it to the album.

@stevenlennon12 the reason for Lennon's harshness is,everybody knew about the "lost weekend", they had all seperated at this time. again....John was staying in Bermuda and flew to L.A.for the sole pupose of recording this, he sang it to Yoko on the phone, if you listen to it from the perspective of "John was pissed" the voice is amazing

this is an original recording. Cheap Trick was brought in to give the song an edge. Yoko wanted a softer "Eagles," style so she axed this. There is no studio magic on here this is them sitting in the same room as john and playing..
