A fine, simple drill with technical skating and skate-to-shot complements: the purpose is to react to a pass as though a one-timer is expected (as it generally should be), transitioning to a butterfly slide; when the goalie sees that the shooter is going to take a little more time -- because of a bad pass, or a bobbled reception, or simply in loading up for a big shot -- the goalie recovers smoothly into a forward C-cut to gain depth, fill the shooting angle, and put the shooter under pressure.
