Tutorial #4 of my arrangement of Samuel Barber's Adagio for Strings, Opus 11.

Believe it or not, this one took some effort to post. I had to argue with my computer quite a bit to finally get a video where the audio and music lined up. I had played the piece much slower so that everyone could see what I was doing a little better. Then, I went to post it, and YouTube rejected it, because it was too long. So, I had to go back, and do the whole thing all over again. This is the end result.

I don't own a tripod, nor do I own a coffee table, so I actually had to record myself playing, create a MIDI file, then physically hold the camera and record the LCD as best as I could while it played the piece back. (Sorry, I haven't figured out how to create MIDI files or controllers to email as of yet). My apologies about it having a few hand shakes here and there. I thought my arms were going to fall off by the time I got to the 7 minute mark.

This is installment #4 of my tutotial series for the Adagio for Strings. This one was requested by several folks, so hopefully this will fulfill what they have been wanting to see. I just wish I could have posted the first one instead.

As always, if there are any questions about what I'm doing, or how I'm doing it with this piece, you can send me a msg, or you can refer to my other 3 tutorials.

  • Yo man! Kudos to you for the great job. I always thought that keyboards sucks, but actually this piece 100% better in keyboard than in piano cause the keyboard holds the left hand's notes and doesn't make the music empty as it happens with the piano.

Btw, I'm interested in the in the music sheet. I need to learn something useful in keyboard cause I always avoid it due to Lizst's and Beethoven's impossibility in it xD.

Shall I pm you with an email address?

    TY in advance! GJ

  • Thanks! Sure, I'll send you the PDF of the music. Just send me your email address, and I'll get it to you as soon as I can.

  • Very good and all but why dont you just post the actual sheet music on a forum some were and give the link? Would save you holding the camera for 7 minutes xD

  • This was a request from a lady who really wants to learn to play it for herself, but doesn't read manuscript notation. But, I did go to Wal-Mart and pick up a tripod for my next try at something like this. ;D

  • You should be knighted :)

  • Wow. Never heard anyone say THAT before. Thanks!

  • You've done an awesome cover of that song, but as a tutorial, this bombed, it's just too unclear on that tiny screen, what with the shaky camera as well.

Peace out and best of luck.

  • this is cool.

i tried to learn this but itspretty hard when you dont know how to read notes or relying on videos to watch where fingers are placed.

i could get it though if i spent alot of time looking at something like this.
