What a beautiful little family! It's wonderful that you were there for her as "midwife" and helped her along. I hope all the puppies are in good loving homes. Thanks so much for posting!

Our first litter of cresteds are due in less than a month. I have watched just about every birth video on youtube. You were very calm and not only did you assist in the delivery, but you shot the video. Thank you for posting this!

Thanks for sharing this video. My yorkshire terrier is due this week and it's hers and my first litter, so we are both nervous! So I am trying to find videos a pups being whelped and I came across yours. Very nicely done especially with you being alone. I hope hers goes just as smooth. Again, thanks for sharing.

Excellent video, beautiful pups!
how do you tell if they are powder puff or hairless, because i saw a video of where there were hairless puppies at 1 day old but they looked hairy.

Good question. There are varying degrees of hair on a hairless Chinese Crested Puppy. A Powder-Puff puppy will always be fully coated at birth, so easy to spot.

Hairless pups generally look hairless at birth, but having said that, some hairless puppies will have quite a bit of body hair, but unlike the puffs, will have some bald areas too (usually the throat area, armpits, stomach and the rear of the thighs will have little to no hair). The ones that are very hairy at birth will typically require lots of body grooming as adults and are often referred to as hairy-hairless.

Thank You so much for this video!!! I would love to own a chinese crested in the future and love to go around and look at all of the videos.
I do have a question, if you wouldn't mind answering: When shaving a PP to a HL, how long after will you have to do it again, to make it look fresh?

Hi Kitty,
Lemmony was clipped out after getting her championship title, but not all the way down to skin. I do a close clip leaving the body coat just a few milimeters long, and do her face and ears with a Contura clipper. To keep her looking pretty, I redo the clip approximately every four to six weeks.
