@oldjaghead --40 years ago,I decorated 'Theme' Nite Clubs in LA.One for an X-Vegas Showgirl,very,very 'X'.On Opening Night,lots of her old 'friends' came.Mickey Cohen had a booth,Redd preformed,I did the stage lighting from a table,Billy Barty sat with me,and told me the dirt on everyone.50's Stars.Next day they found a dead guy in the parking lot.(Cohen's work ?) Don't know.They closed in 6 weeks.Redd & I talked about NYC,with Billy.Midget jokes flew,Barty would come back with, black jokes.

Red Foxx is a pioneer in the long lineage of greats. Before Richard Pryor was Red Foxx, Before Eddie Murphy was Pryor,Before Chris Rock, Murphy and so on. Know and respect the lineage, you will enjoy modern comedians alot more, as many of them have built on previous styles. You also have to appreciate it in the context of the time; A vulgar comedian is common now, but Foxx inspired ALL of those after.

Redd Foxx is funny as hell! I don't think he's overrated... matter fact he might be underrated. I love dave what's his name but he's overrated!

Ol' Redd was definitely not overrated! FOXX ROCKS! > I'm also surprised at how young people today have been conditioned to expect *political correctness* in ~EVERYTHING~, even comedians from the not-so-distant past who didn't live in the Politically Correct world we exist in now. The thing is, though > if Redd were still with us he wouldn't give a damn about being PC anyway!

@glenmatthewsmusic ....You obviously are very young.He does NOT mean any of this stuff,people who know his "work" know this.REDD started,the insult humor,that is common today.You had to get his LP's,33-1/3 records at parties in the 60's.He also is a nice man,I knew him in LA.
