You do realize that most major inventions in the recent decades has come from space exploration? Things like improved pacemakers, satellite radio, the x-ray, et cetera.

Search for NASA spinoffs, and press the .gov link. It'll take you to a list of innovations in science that NASA made.

That's so short sighted, if we kept looking for excuses not to grow and move beyond the safe or known we would never do anything new.

Some very smart people have suggested that if we don't branch out beyond this planet we risk our extinction, for the very same reasons you espoused.

Don't come back pretending I am advocating fucking up the Earth ... we can do both things, conserve what we have and expand to find assurance of our species survival.

Problem is that if you were born on any other planet, even in space, you wouldn't be able to return to earth because of your bones not developing correctly. You would be crushed.
