I dye my hair black about once a month. My hair is like a medium brown and I personally love how black looks with my very pale skin. I've been dying my hair since I was 15 and with black, the box dye i use stains the best. I'm only showing you what I do. I try my best to take good care of it, and i'm lucky to have hair that bounces back great. & I bought everything too!
Heres what I use
Revlon Blue/black dye (was around $2!)
Bio Silk Silk Therapy treatment

John Frieda Full Repair Root Lift Foam, shampoo, conditioner --- I had some coupons :)

& some clips :)
