@acefiddle open your ears , ya asshat, Hendrix rocked this tune, Jerry and Tim mountainfied it.Best look around for some real life.

@lupaun Yeah! I like that - he *did* show us all how much emotion and "fire" could be channeled from the player's brain into the guitar. No one had done it to that degree before, save maybe Django, but even then it was a different thing. Hendrix was the bomb. But he wasn't "on a different plane" - jeez. There are countless guitarists today who play way beyond where Hendrix had gotten to, imo. Tommy Emmanuel, for one -- imo. Larry Carlton for another. If not better, just as good. IMO. &SRV!

@inky960 i agree with u. jimi hendrix was pretty shit technically at guitar. he has all my respect because he was the first one to make a guiytar sound in the way that he made it sound.

Tim and Jerry nail this song, thanks for posting...

@acefiddle Maybe the question is, "Who was Jimi copying?" _Hey Joe_ is an old folk song - Jimi did a version, the Byrds did a version, a thousand others did versions. Tim O'Brien has a GREAT version - just open your ears. Hendrix played it louder - is that what makes music good? I hope not! These guys could easily afford bigger amps than Jimi ever saw, but they're in a f.ing TENT! "Schoolboys?" Hendrix was no better at guitar than Jerry Douglas is, in my opinion. & listen to the vocal!

OH BROTHER. Jimi Hendrix was on a different plane than these guys. They are schoolboys compared to jimi. Who are they copying anyhow?
-
Yeah that's music! Great!

This kind of fun is too rare in any kind of music ,anymore.
