Not really true... I'm Portuguese but I lived in Holland for 7 years when I was a little kid.. Although I already knew Portuguese from speaking it at home, I was one of the best students in my Dutch classes! Then, when I came back to Portugal and continued with my studies, I was fluent in French and English!
How I see it, languages like English, Spanish, Italian, German, Norwegian, Dutch, Greek and Latin aren't much of a problem for us, since we are majorly a migrating country.
