I'm an independent knitting designer and teacher. I've been knitting for so long, I don't remember learning. This is my first instructional video, on adding a knotted fringe to a scarf or a shawl. You can read more about my knitting adventures at knittingrobin.blogspot.com, and you can purchase my patterns at patternfish.com.

  • This was great. Easy to follow and your description of the steps was some of the best stuff I've seen on Youtube. Really. Please do more videos.

  • Good Video!! Thanks

  • Thank you so much- I just finished a scarf that I wanted to used knotted fringe, and even the Vogue Book of Knitting wasn't helping me. Great Video!

  • I made a 54 in scarf with no needle for my best friends daughter its baby blue with baby pink. And I didn't know what ends to make then I looked it up on you-tube and going this video, amd loved how you made it. Thanks for showing me how to do it. you are the best.

  • Thank you Robin! The German shawls all seem to have this knotted fringe, and I haven't been able to find any shawl patterns or books that show how to do it.

Very nice, and not so hard to do. Maybe it takes a little practice though. The German shawls seem to use thinner yarn or perhaps even crochet thread. But they have several rows of knots all evenly placed. It's a nice effect.
