  • hahahahhaha i love the zen moments

  • Somebody's career (and life) isn't going so well.

  • this insane bitch sums up the republican party

  • @Lugh314

"A rose by any other name would smell as sweet." Shakespeare was just saying that roses are going to be what they are, even if they're called stinkweed..

But the ultimate point is that if a rose was called stinkweed then English would probably be a completely different language where "stinkweed" was just a series of sounds used to designate a rose. It wouldn't necessarily carry the meaning we have for it. Words are just sounds w/ assumed meaning.

Sorry I didn't know you were joking.

  • @Npowell01 I appreciate the clarification, but just to make one of my own: I was being facetious. :-P

Although you have to admit, everyone judges things based on the terms used to describe them. "A rose would smell as sweet were it not a rose called"... or whatever. Totally untrue! I guarantee if you called it 'stink-weed' women wouldn't get a dozen of them on Valentine's!

  • @Lugh314

Lol. So you judge things based on what term is used to describe them?

That's the same as judging a book by its cover, a theory by its practice, or a practice by its theory. It's basically the thing I was initially speaking out against. I think you interpreted by post as "Pro-Communisn" because of the words in it when it was really "Pro reading."

  • @Npowell01 After Hitler, the FLQ, and the Unibomber, I have an inherent bias towards anything calling itself a 'manifesto'. Tell you what, ask some Communists to right up an Communist 'guidebook', and I'll have a look.

  • @Isospinsymmetries I know, right? I could have sworn I've seen her on SNL...

  • she was joking, right?

  • I thought the dumb blonde character was a character.
