SCTV, 10/7/78: SOLID GOLD TELETHON, 1/3 - SCTV's star-studded fundraising telethon for itself. Spot-on parody of show-biz schtick. Host: Sammy Maudlin with Bobby Bittman , Johnny LaRue ("almost" donating his weight in Gold after a few swigs of Jack Daniels!!), Lola Heatherton, Lorna Minelli, Captain Combat and Gunny Rabbit (working the phones), Sammy, Bobby and Johnny, alternately shedding faux tears and bullying the audience and Howard, their "poster child". Joe Flaherty, Eugene Levy, John Candy, Dave Thomas, Andrea Martin, Catherine O'Hara.
