Should have left McCain in that cage in the jungle.

@FAHayek89 well, as EYE understand how youtube works, you title yr video w/ "DADT" and out come all the heterophobes ready to strike down any discussion from the opposition. so congratulations on all the folks who like your responses. mccain's complaints are germane, the military leadership bowed to obama's power & glory, the fix was in. but NEVER let it be said that this repeal was 'welcomed' by the folks in the military because of this BS survey. that would be a Big Obama Lie

@cloudshe So basically, your argument is that if it doesn't work, you were correct, and if it does work, it really failed and the failure was covered up, so you are still correct? If I understand your system, no matter what happens in the world - no matter how facts contradict your conclusions, you end up correct. Nothing could possibly prove you wrong. That must be a wonderful world you live in.
By the way, 75% and 85% are overwhelming.

@FAHayek89 and how many retired generals and admirals think it's horseshit? why do you leave out That tidbit? you want this to look like the repeal has OVERWHELMING support yet it does Not. and where were these guys when Bush was President???
time will tell, whatever the negative consequences, you can be sure they will be buried, just as the female absorption went down. end result a stronger military? we will see

Do these combat-vet warriors/ex-warriors have enough experience for you?
GEN Petreaus, ISAF Cdr.
ADM Roughhead, Chief, Naval Ops.
ADM Cartwright, VC JCS
ADM(r) Crowe, Chair JCS
GEN(r) Powell, Chair JCS; NSA; SecState
GEN(r) Shalikashvili, Chair JCS
LTG(r) Christman, USMA Superintendent
ADM(r) Larson, CINCPAC; USNA Superintendent
Over 100 retired Generals and Admirals support the change. Somehow I am sure you would claim they somehow don’t have your expertise in national defense.

@cloudshe As far as experience: Multiple combat tours at the tactical level, including in command positions of Armor and Airborne Cavalry Soldiers, in both Mechanized Infantry and light Airborne Infantry Brigades. Is that good enough for you for experience?
-
@cloudshe Facts are empirics.
- Fact: No western state (including Israel and Britain) that repealed their ban saw a decrease in enlistment/re-enlistment.
- Fact: The vast majority of the COMBAT Marines and Soldiers who have served with homosexuals said the change would be irrelevant or positive. (You call the survey biased, but fail to explain how that empiric specifically is biased.)
- Fact: The majority of the public supports the change in every major poll.
-
@FAHayek89 well, maybe in your Virtual Military where you are supreme commander all those things would work out okay. you seem to be of the notion that some highly educated(?), moral civilian would be an appropriate judge of how the military should be run. why don't you team up with the media and we can fire all those ex-warriors, you guys can take their place & our nation's defense will be run so much better
-
@FAHayek89 funny how you proclaim your depiction of this situation as "facts" but others' views as "partisan". is it because you have no real "experience" to back up your "facts"?
-
@FAHayek89 again, your opinion is noted. you can pick and chose who you consider to be "authoritative" to prove your point, but in the end the future will tell, not some rigged questionaire designed to put a happy face on homosexuality
and what criteria will you base the effectiveness of the repeal? re-enlistment/recruitment rate of heterosexuals? downturn in army suicide stats? percent of non-citizens in our forces? nothing negative will be reported, the brass always bows to the media
@cloudshe The reason that the question was left out is that privates don't have the right to make policy. Senior military officers make military policy, and political leadership makes political policy. The answer to the question would have been irrelevant.
If you do want to look at numbers, the vast majority of the military think the change would have no effect or a positive effect. Of the combat arms branches, the majority who have knowingly served with a homosexual feel the same way.

@cloudshe Tou need to think about who is being political. The vast majority of service members see no issue for unit effectiveness if there is a change. The Chair and Vice Chair of the JCS think a change would be positive. The majority of living and recently deceased former Chairmen of the JCS support(ed) a change. The vast majority of the U.S. population supports a change. Society both in and out of the military is on one side, and McCain is on the other, making him the social engineer.
