, "Chariot" (composed by Franck Pourcel in 1961), started like a joke. It was composed with his friends Paul Mauriat and Raymond Lefevre . At that time, everything coming from the US was striking gold, so they invented a story that the song was the soundtrack of a new western movie by the 20th Century Fox: "You'll never See It". With lyrics by Jacques Plante, Petula Clark sung the song and had a hit.

Little Peggy March had such a monster hit with this song in 1963 that it spawned all of these cover versions. You may enjoy listening to all of these today and some may have held up better than others; however, I'm here to tell you: Little Peggy March's version was the sound of the day! Back then, there was no comparison............her version was it!
