Well, if one needs to delve into "concepts" to be able to tell two bands apart, it's probably not worth the time to "delve into concepts". That said FOTN is an excellent band and it is not a sign of disgrace to sound exactly like SoM. Or a s Borges would have it: "every artist creates his ancestors." Peace.
The Sisters of Mercy influence was strongest on their early albums. Not to mention that FotN is way more full live band(no drum machines et cetera) oriented than SoM.
