It seems like it worked, like any safety feature it can't stop 100% of all accidents, but several seconds before it hit the car you can hear the tires screeching because the system slammed on the brakes which means the accident would have been much worse without the system.

its designed so that the crash is less severe and your break time is increased, it doesnt mean you can accelerate wildly and think that your not gonna hit anything
