http://nicktumminello.com/ - Baltimore MD’s Best Personal Trainer and internationally known Strength Coach, Nick Tumminello shows you a new, better way to do your shoulder external rotation, rotator cuff exercise.
A good move, although inducing a flat back is not ideal. Ideal would be having a consistent lumbar curvature for that person. I would suggest putting a towel roll the thickness of your hand at the apex of your lumbar spine. Furthermore, I would also suggest contraction of your internal Transverse Abdominus |(TVA) before you initiate the tension on the rubber band.
This video should show up first when people look for things like cuban press or rotator cuff rehab. This is one of the best videos I have seen on this subject. You get a gold star! (seriously)
Nick, I tried this exercise today as a filler like you demonstrated in your other video. I have one question: would this variation be a good exercise for boxers and tennis players? Thanks a lot.
I don't have an elastic thingy. Could I use two small dumbbells?

You can also do it against the wall for a more natural functional position, using band or roller behind the back, good concept to address
