Some basics of Signs

I am by no stretch of the imagination an expert and this video is NOT for teaching purposes.

I hope the signs are easier to see now. If you request any specific words for me to sign. Feel free to send me a message or to comment on the video and ask.

Thank you very much for your effort and sharing. I'm in a theatre production of a Willy Conley play this Fall and half of the cast is deaf. I've never signed before and your video has been a big help in allowing me to better communicate with my new friends. I'd love to see more. (One note: try aiming the camera just a little lower to give an even better view of your hands).

I am glad to hear I have been helpful to you. I am hoping to make a video sometime soon. I appreciate your advice on adjusting the camera. I will keep that in mind the next time I make a video, hopefully the next video will have a better view of the signs.

im right handed and i notice that the videos i have watched about ASL use their left hands to spell out things. does it matter what hand i use? or must i use my left hand? i hope u understand my question haha

From what I have been told by people from the deaf community is that the right hand is the preferred/ dominate hand for signing. I have found that people can sign with either hand, most people will sign with there right hand, but I just find it more comfortable to sign with my left hand. Since your right handed, you might feel more comfortable signing with your right hand, so sign with whichever hand feels more comfortable to sign with.
