How to repair and fix your hard drive from within Windows. Determine if there is a problem with the hard disk in the form of file system corruption or bad sectors (disk errors). Analyze or export this data to make an assessment about the condition of your hard drive. Examins the chkdsk utility and the Computer Management MMC console. http://windows7forums.com/

  • my hard drive said i had 145 gbs before and now it went down to 98 kbs now its randomly switching to mbs and i need help please i had to delete almost all my stuff now

  • @thesnipaassassin For those of you losing disk space, if you had a problem already (like noises coming off the drive), and now lose space after running CHKDSK, you very likely have bad sectors. Follow the instructions on checking the CHKDSK log in Windows Event Viewer and start backing up files immediately. You could be facing imminent disk failure.

  • Can anyone tell me why did my pc did this process automatically? I didnt run the commad console, but when I restarted my computer for some reason this process took place.!!?

    -Thank you

  • @madhawarock This process will be initiated by the operating system if it detects possible problems with the drive while you are using the OS. It will schedule a chkdsk on the following boot. This is done on occasion to confirm the drive is clean.
