I have some problem with the JDSU power supply, current regulation doesn't work and there is always max at the output. This is why I used heaters (that glowing red sicks) as a ballast to limit the tube current to 6,5A. Stickers says the max power is 160mW @ 450-515nm but the tube is old and worn out.
PROBLEM IS SOLVED, the PSU works great :)

  • THE PROBLEM IS SOLVED! :D I took the PSU apart and then put it back together, since then it works great :P

  • Glad to see you got it fixed, and welcome to LPF :)

  • Now it's running at 6,5A, I'm planning to put 10-12A on it but I have to figure out what's wrong with the PSU first. There's also some kind of power sensor inside the laser head so maybe I will figure out what's the calibration of it (how many volts per watt) and then measure the power. After all, the laser arrived yesterday and I made it to work in one evening so it's very good result in my opinion! :D

  • Yes, those are heaters from microwave oven's grill :) Each 25 ohm 500W connected in parallel. I have no idea what's the output power because I don't have a power meter. Rated max power was 160mW when it was new but I don't know at what tube current.
