That is not true. You are take select group of Panamanians to make a general statement. My family does not consider themselves Spaniards & I've never considered myself latino. There are many Panamanians like myself who show up to the parade to represent their culture.

panamanians try to come to our parade because their little panamanian parade in brooklyn aint poppin. they wanna party with us cuz they know how we get down but the next day they gonna go back to disassociating with anything west indian, denying they're black, lol.

its all good tho b/c i've never considered panamanians to be west indian, to me they're hispanics/latinos. panama isn't even in the caribbean, its in central america first of all lol, they speak SPANISH, and while jamaican/west indian influences is a big aspect in panama, culturally they are still more hispanic/latin than anything. besides,many of them are heavily mixed anyway, their west indian ancestry is watered down.

erm, why do panamanians even have a float?? they aren't west indians and don't claim to be either. yeah i know some of them have west indian ancestry but fuck, its like pulling teeth with them to get them to admit it lol. forreal tho, i don't know one panamanian that claims to be west indian. ask a panamanian what they are and you'll hear latina, hispanic, moreno, ect BEFORE black & west indian. fact.

I said that Panama is STILL dominated by blacks of colonial/slave Panamanian/Colombian and/or Hispanic origins rather than from those of West Indian descent. I mentioned Colombia because Panama was an integral part of Colombia until the 1900s and Afro Hispanic Colombians still migrate to Panama. Panama always had it's own black people. And, believe me, I did my research along time ago and have friends from Panama!
