HELIX is a solar powered machine with a light seeking head and independently twisting legs. It is constructed from copper wire, brass and scrap electronics. Helix was the 3rd in a trilogy of solar powered sculptures and is influenced by the fact I was reading War of the Worlds at the time I made it.

Music: The Octopus Project.

  • heres a nice little revolving solar sculpture... ''solar powered revolving VW campervans model''

  • record it for a longer time and then fastforward. Like recording lillies in the dark or whatever flower it is that turns in circles looking for sunlight.

  • nice construction

    cool sound!

  • What's the title of this psychedelic skullfucking peace of Motherfucker!!!!By The Octopus Project.

  • You should use at least 100cm2 good solar cells.

it need current to drive motors.

  • it moves just a bit...now make it walk

  • could you make a little longer video, but play it a lot faster? please. so we could really see the movement, not the 'slowness'. thanks!

  • yeah it moves very slowly :) I'd like to have it in my garden :D
