Mahalo's expert chef Jennifer Martello shows you how to make mummy dogs from sausages and croissant roll dough.

Mummy dogs can be served as a
themed appetizer at a Halloween event. To learn how to make mummy dogs, a viewer can follow along with Chef Jennifer Martello. She explains how to make the mummy bandages and decorate the character's face with a toothpick and mustard.

This
Halloween recipe calls for Lit'l Smokies, refrigerated croissant rolls, mustard, a toothpick, parchment paper, non-stick spray and a sheet pan. The parchment paper is placed on the sheet pan. Next, the paper is sprayed with the non-stick spray and set aside. After this is completed, the oven should be preheated to 375 degrees.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BYFAINlHIpE

Step 1: Make the Bandages
---------------------------------------------------------------------

After opening the container of croissant rolls, Martello peals off the layers of the pastry dough. She puts them down on a clean surface in pairs of two rectangles. The chef squeezes the perforated, diagonal edges together. They can be found in the center of each rectangle. The edges between pairs of rectangles are sealed by pinching them together with the fingers.

Next, she cuts thin strips from one of the rectangles with a sharp knife. A pizza cutter can also be used. The strips should be a quarter of an inch wide. They represent the bandages for the mummy.

Step 2: Decorate the Mummy
---------------------------------------------------------------------

In this step, she wraps a strip of dough around one of the Lit'l Smokies. The cook covers the bottom half of the sausage only. Afterwards, she takes another strip and wraps it around the top of the same sausage. She leaves a small space empty for the eyes.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BYFAINlHIpE The mummy is put on the parchment paper and sheet pan. She continues the procedure with the remaining Lit'l Smokies.

Step 3: Cook the Mummies
---------------------------------------------------------------------

After all the sausages are wrapped, Martello places them in a 375 degree oven for 12 to 14 minutes.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BYFAINlHIpE Once the mummies have been taken out of the oven, it is time to finish decorating them. Finally, she dips a toothpick in mustard and dots each mummy dog with a pair of eyes on the exposed surface of the meat.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BYFAINlHIpE
