This is a test video showing what the Escondido Creek Nature Center microscope can see looking at pond water. It demonstrates the difference in looking at the water while lit below (I called it "transparency" on the video), and from the top (reflection). You can see a number of critters swimming in the water. This was shot with a Canon T1i DSLR camera mounted on a T ring adapter to the trinocular microscope. Shot in 720P High Def.

  • With darkfield illumination you'll be able to your subjects a bit better. Too much light washes out the fine details and can actually overheat your subject.

  • Very cool to watch, thanks for sharing :*) I like how the two light sources produced a transparent but also reflective top level view of the pond water specimen. Now was this video in actual time or was is sped up or time lapsed in any way..?
