PLEASE READ:

Alot of talk surrounded the events at Napier, New Zealand when a lone gunman, angry after arriving home to find Police carrying out a search warrant shot and killed a long serving police officer.

On the 11th of May, Police revealed the extent of the gunmans mass weapon collection, 18 military style weapons and many boxes of ammunition. Explosives were also found in his garage.

The Siege lasted 51 Hours, 2 shots were fired by Police, several shots of gas and distraction devices were used by Police in conjunction with the Army Lavs. The gunman fired dozens of rounds, differing in caliber, periodicaly throughout the time he was alive.

A LESSON LEARNED?

At Breakfast time on Saturday, readers of the New Zealand Herald will have seen one of the headlines "Gunman Dead" & "Robots Recover Body". This is a direct insult to the Army & Police who, Underfire, recovered the body at 5pm on the 8th of May. The media should Learn that specualtion is not news, theroes about an operation currently underway is NOT news. News is Facts.

The Herald, Tv3, TVNZ and, infact almost all news in New Zealand reported the Gunman Was dead before the Police operation had even finished - BEFORE police had even stormed his property.

More disturbingly, while police where STILL undertaking an operation to bring the situation to a safe end, a nation critized, complained, theorised and thought of conspiracies and ingenious tactical plans on bringing down such a gunman.

Who knew everyday people could watch news footage and plan a tactical assault on a gunmans property over the dinner table. Absolutley amazing. These people should join the STG and the SAS.

The real LESSON people should be learning is to NEVER assume in situations such as this. People need to back the police and tactical comanders in situations, the ARE employed for a reason. They know what there doing.

And perhaps for some this is just not possible. So perhaps these few could shut up for once, and wait until things are confirmed, wait until someone in a uniform stands up and tells us the REAL details, the REAL facts and the REAL way they did things.

What the Police did in Napier was bring an end to a dangerous situation calmly, slowley, safley and without further innocent lives being lost.

  • The fact remains that if proper policing had been done in regards to Jan Molenar this whole incident would not have happened in the first place. Its not the tactics that we should be criticising. The Police did they best they can and did very well indeed to ensure that no more lives were needlessly lost. At the end of the day everyone just gets angry and wants the STG to storm in there and kill the fucker... but for what?? he had no hostages.

  • @ginjaninja1988 They guy killed somone. Nothing gives him the right to do so.

  • @SBPNZ I know. I think you misunderstood my statement. What I was saying was.... what would be the point of storming in there like everyone wanted the police to do which would simply just endanger police lives for no gain.... he had no hostages.

  • @ginjaninja1988 Ah sorry. Fair enough

  • Nice video. Think some are missing the point of it though. Far too many armchair experts were out in force encouraged along by the media dribble. Was thankful the photos of the gunman's weapon cache were released so those talking like they are experts on tactics, could see why they are not.

NZ Police, damned if they do, damned if they don't these days.

  • @therealeskay Cheers mate

  • @crocodiledavid if the population is not armed. Being effectivley armed and allowed to defend your life and property against unwaranted and sadly more common aggression is the difference between victim or citizen.

  • @crocodiledavid today is ignorance to the extreme. But the Police leadership need to stop playing politcal games and actually enforce the laws. If they get their way and citizens are disarmed it won't matter if the Police are armed or not because criminals will use their guns and flee knowing that nobody in the house or shop can shoot back. Just look at Australia, England and Canada for examples...in both unarmed and armed prmary policing cases it doesn't make a difference.

  • @crocodiledavid something stupid. Not to mention the Police failed to enforce the laws on the books in regards to his firearms...and they had plenty of chances to do so. Then the coroner comes out and says "semi auto firearms should be banned??!! What??! So the Police completely fail to uphold the law and as a result loose lives and law abiding firearms owners are the ones targeted like they are the problem? Yes the Police should be fully armed at all times; not to arm our Police

  • @crocodiledavid Totally agree. But my point was that the Police were not prepared but they also failed to do their job. They knew that he was mentally instable (which disqualifies him for a firearms license). They knew he had stolen firearms from the military. They knew that he had firearms that he did not hold endorsements for. They knew that he was involved with or using drugs. Yet they still went door knocking unarmed with a dog that would surely aggitate him into doing

  • @ginjaninja1988 Fair point, but I do think NZ Police should be better prepared and armed.

  • @australian1000 because the guy had automatic weapons. If theyre there, why not use them?

  • How the hell? I don't have a bunch of army vehicles and police cars sitting in my backyard to drive around the street

  • @therealeskay could it had been me who set him off in the First place when it read in the Hastigs rag thet ahh knew some-one twas going too try and kill as many oinks as possible. ?

  • why did they need LAV's?

  • awesome video! um whats this song?
