Just went for a walk around my estate. Found a big patch of Solanum nigrum, I think....

I was gamer, twenty years ago, eating weeds when I lived in Sydney--as there was always a big nearby hospital in case of an emergency.

It's always very important to carefully identify any wild foods. Better safe than sorry. Good books are "Wild Herbs of Australia and New Zealand" by Tim Low and "Wild Food in Australia" by A.B. and J.W. Cribb. Both these books discuss the edible Nightshades. I'd better read up, and do comparisons with the illustrations, first, to make absolutely sure.

I used to eat the ripe black Solanum nigrum berries that grew around streetlamps, in Paddington, Sydney. Of course, one had to be mindful of dogs' urine before plucking them. They were quite a tasty and juicy berry, and well worth seeking out.
