  • I haven't heard such focused, efficient, engaging language since the Kennedys. The man can get to the nub of any issue, and take everyone agreeably in with him. Look at Petraeus' sympathetic, reasoned reaction (body language) when Obama suggests a more reasonable measure for "success" . . . He actually is considering it! One feels he is almost relieved at the possibility of delving Obama's hypothetical. I daresay he'd love to serve under a President Obama. His his opinion of King George? Hmm.

  • Obama provided an intelligent approach that was not just playing to the crowd.

  • Thank you for posting this! I watched a lot of these hearings and it seems like the same questions and same answers over and over again. It was refreshing to hear a different approach...

  • obama is right in that diplomacy should be the first option. War is only justifiable when we are all willing to sent our own loved ones to fight and die for this country.

  • Who said Iran will use WMD's against the US? I think that they have a right to protect themselves against any foreign threat just as we do. the problem is that the US likes preemptive attacks and Iran is acting rationally in making WMD's to prevent an attack.

  • Ahmadinejad is excellent. He is a student of life and reads books all day long. He was elected to office for 4 years and will leave office after the next elections. Iran has a 2,000 year history, America has a 200 year history. Iran has never started a war in modern history. America has started dozens of wars, even arming Iraq so Saddam could attack Iran.

  • oops! I have no clue why my comment appeared so many times.

  • Well I'm glad neither pillows123 or in22525 aren't running for president.

A wise leader MUST engage with our enemies in diplomacy first. We wouldn't be in this quagmire if there was more vigorous communication on our part. Obama is right. Like Kennedy said "We should never negotiate out of fear, but we should never fear to negotiate"

You are so right. I also would like to point out that Ahmadinejad if in possession of a nuclear device and the means to deliver it would probably use it. Thats the mentality we have to deal with. They only respect strength. They have never been interested in diplomacy.
