@DRG1939 Hey guy Ive surfed with Shawn Tomson and if you clearly see that any surfer deeper in the wave has the right away. I have been surfing for over twenty years surfed all over the world and I would proudly say that Shawn Tomson could compete today at 54 and still kill it over alot of younger surfers. If you know anything about surfing you would know that he is one of the best surfers of all time and there is a respect that he will always have with real surfers.

@educatedmetalhead No shit this guy is making a big deal out of nothing. Maybe he should learn the basics of surfing rules because that is one of the first things that you learn. Shawn was clearly in the right and the other guy shouldnt have taken off on the wave because he should have noticed that Shawn was already committed on that wave.DUH........what a RE RE.

Shawn can shred over allot of young punks out there that think they can shred......he is one of the best surfers and in my opiuion he should be still in contest making a living out of it.

Wow - that's classic! As far as the shared wave that's all is was - shared. I know there are those who do not understand such a concept. That's cool - I'm glad I don't have to surf where you do - which is usually where it is most packed!

Those of you who idolize such people and would sit back , not surf just to watch the guy and drool over him are whacked. Am I as good as Tomson...no way. I'd be the first to admit it. I wouldn't go as far as dropping in on someone because that's what wave hoggin' dicks do....and there's plenty of those...but Im going to be in the water, surfing. Not drooling like like some teenage high school punk.

Tomson was inside and its his wave. I don't know what the hell you are talking about or where you have been surfing for the years you claim, but its plain as day that it was Tomson's wave.

Truth be known...I've been surfing since you were shittin' in diapers. Yes, it's been 23 great years in the water and Im still stoked! Tomson has helped lead the way for the sport back in the day..no doubt. However...to say one should idolize him and just sit back and not surf is foolish. There are plenty of people out there just as good and if anything.....there will be another set behind the one you missed.

I don't believe you surfed for 23 years or your be wiser. Perhaps I'm wrong and you surfed those years, so you have learnt nothing from the Ocean in so long time.

Watch closely @ :55/56...the other kid gets up before Tomson. Ok...he's a "legend" no doubt. However...in my 23 years of surfing (started at 17...now 40)...I would have to say the local kd had the wave first. Sorry Shaun....theres another set comin'....

He was having fun here in Florida and ripping. I feel privileged that he was ripping here in Florida and schooling people way younger than him, and he IS riding a short board. A grom rides what is appropriate for him and a seasoned surfer rides what is appropriate for him. Shaun Thompson invented radical carving tube riding and made OfftheWall the spot it is. If your not sure about perfect set don't slander. Even if something were true don't slander, it offends God.
