The bald eagle has been an important U.S. icon since it was named the emblem of our country in 1782. Now, for the first time ever, the North Carolina Zoo is exhibiting a bald eagle. The species, which is known for its long life and majestic appearance, faced serious population declines in the middle of the 20th century; however, it was removed from the Endangered Species List in 2007. This particular animal comes to the NC Zoo from Florida, where it was rehabilitated from injuries suffered in the wild.
I jsut saw it today. iwas sad because he or she really has no where to fly around.
