In Cairo on her own as she waits for her husband, Juliette (Patricia Clarkson) finds herself caught in a whirlwind romance with her husband's friend Tareq (Alexander Siddig), a retired cop. As Tareq escorts Juliette around the city, they find themselves in the middle of a brief affair that catches them both unawares.

@kellina84 NO! The beauty of this film, this romance, this love, is that they DON'T end up in bed. If they had, and especially if they showed it on film, then Cairo Time would have been just another spit-swapping, hook-up, mundane film. The power of this romance is that it is unfulfilled. It also shows that despite temptations, marriage has value even when the romance fades. Juliette's look from the elevator and her tears in the car speak of her love more than any bed scene. Don't change it.

i saw this movie on tv two days ago, and i thought it was absolutely fantastic. Cairo is beautiful and the love story between Tareq & Juliette is well thought out. I wish we could've seen more of them at the end of the film, but I think I understand the stares at each other and the quietness of them together portrays the warm feelings they have for each other. Brilliant film :)

@kastellos True that. loved the settings, even the silence between them. so pure.I loved the respect given to Juliette by Tareq. compliments to the script written of course. You will hardly ever find this kind of behaviour in today's Hollywood movies. Instead you will find it simply promotes a lose lifestyle which at most given times where its a case of.. you see, you like, you take....! quite sad really.
