The Raja of Peliatan is Cremated and Lovingly Sent off by His Devoted People

This process took place after the sun passed its zenith, since commencing this ritual prior to midday is considered disrespectful to the god of the sun. The five to six hours wait for the moment when the casket is placed in the bade was extraordinarily challenging since the midday heat had become unbearable.
To keep the patience of the 8, 000 bade bearers who come from Peliatan's 13 banjars -- or community groups - the master of ceremony tirelessly entertained with informative guidance and amusing pranks that was responded by peels of laughter. Tension mounted as the bade, carried by hundreds of men, is hoisted and then blessed by the priest. The crowd of relatives and tourists stood amazed watching in disbelief how such an immense construction could be carried manually by thousands of men working together in compact coordination. The bade, the bull sarcophagus and the nagabanda were carried together to the cremation grounds , a kilometer away. At every road crossing, the huge 25.5 meter high tower, weighing 11 tonnes was turned three times to confuse the spirit of the departed from returning home.
