  • To continue - Only 4 wires are required, +5 volts , GND, Serial 1, and 2. The serial wires go directly to the controller chip perhaps through a zero ohm resistor, serial wires can be soldered there or remove coating and tin the trace on the board. GND should be easy to identify. If the +5 pad is totaly gone, look for a VIA (tiny hole through the board) and a component you can solder to on the opposite side.

Looking into the end of the connector from left to right -GND - Ser2 - Ser1 - +5

  • @ycmdill OK, thanks for that, we just solder in wires for the connections that have been damaged/used to be there, we are not too concerned whether a connection is needed or not, we want to replicate how the connector used to be attached to the board to give us the best chance of getting the data off, we are concerned more with data recovery, so we take the connections back to what they used to be as closely as possible to give us the best chance of saving data.

  • i don't know how to plug in that card, please help me

  • @butkuzagiorgi95 The only way we can help is by fixing it for you.

  • I have snapped the metal head off of my drive, would you be able to attempt a repair in front of me? How long would it take?

  • @dabest6969 We can try to repair it yes, repairs take up to 48 hours to complete

  • Had the right idea but not enough skill. Need to use 30 guage or smaller magnet wire or wire wrap wire from Radio Shack. File soldering iron tip down to the size of a large needle flat on the end.

If magnet wire is used, scrape off the laquer and tin a small portion on each end. Remove the sheild on the usb connector (not required) and shove the magnet wire through the four holes and solder but as far away from the end as possible. Remove the conformal coating on the PCB and attach the wires

  • @Grawfighter123 You need to find where they go to to have any chance of repair

  • hey what happens if the 4 prings are broken from the circuits board....

  • @dshmechanic Thanks, with data recovery we can't promise anything until we know something definate.
