I thought it was funny how you said that we should encourage poeple to do what makes them happy,,, and maybe what will make some women out there happy is becoming a CEO or becoming the next president! Its almost as if your suggesting and correct me if I'm wrong, that if women did what made them happy, what they were good at they would be full time mothers or have a more 'compassionate' role. As if to stay this strive for 'equality', is just being done for the sake of it. lol

@Chacha1tube LOL =) That's exactly what I'm saying, but also recognizing that having laws that limit women's mobility (or men) is ridiculous because while ON AVERAGE a woman may (or may not) be as likely to be a CEO, there are certainly women who will make fantastic CEO's - heck, the best CEO ever could be a woman, but on average, if this is not what most women would be happy/best at, encouraging women to pursue these things is counterproductive. I think the language here is confusing. Yes, men and women should be equal before the law, and in business, and should be considered equal as humans. But men and women are not *the same.*

Equal is a term that refers to the value of a thing, whereas saying something is the same as something else refers to the attributes of both.

Focusing on encouraging people doing what makes them happy and what they're best at is the kind of thinking that will change the world! =)

@user00975318642 what i said was right. however, i did not add that it is mostly do to nurture and not nature. women can be inellectually successful as men could too. society teaches men to not be "pussies," to not talk about emotions and women who strive to become independent are usually looked down upon. hold on there, statistics benefit society in various ways.

women and rationality, i don't know about that. u said it urself, u put a dude beside a car, and he's variably worth depending on the type of car he has. It is not the case for men, seeing a women is based on direct perception. what does that tell u, that in extreme decision making position, women are not good fir, cause emotions interfere rather than pure logical reasoning. For 150 years there r only 2 physics nobel prizes by women, even with Marie curie, it wasn't her direct contribution.

If men are not complete they would have been eliminated through natural selection, and women would have been able to auto-conceive or have a seasonal dismorphism. But that it is not the case. Anyway, there have been studies that show that as a babystage, there are no differences between girl and boy brains. Factors like strength are due to hormones (testosterone, which leads to fast and strong muscle building for example). A lot of the other things are so embedded in our cultural behavior that children pick them up on their own, because their major learning method is through observation/imitation.

Alright... a lot of the factors you name (like compassion, shame, etc. all the other emotions) are definitely culturally trained and a huge issue still discussed in gender studies. We train boys not to cry, to be strong, etc, ergo we kinda un-train their emotion, whereas girls are urged to be compassionate. If a girl is too strong, too outright she usually hears "A girl doesn't act that way". Don't get me wrong, I absolutely agree with strength, but not the clearly culturally trained factors.

@user00975318642 Once again I doubt that. But if we talk about women being equal, then that statements begs for the answer of the question: equal in what? In physical strength? No. Men are superior in that way. In mental capacity, I doubt it, the great minds of our time were not women, they were men. Plus woman mentally strong(er)? The reason you don't see a woman president nowadays is because women are not mentally strong(er). They are very emotional. And the breadwinners? You must be joking.
