How we influence & inspire people, often without even realising it.

Why not share any examples you may have.

Thanks to Danny for inspiring this video.

  • an.... inspiring video Andy! Sorry, couldn't resist! :)

to be honest I've had people say nice things about me (always good to hear of course) but about the only time I can remember someone saying I inspired them was an ex girlfriend, although we split she left me a note saying that meeting me had really helped her to try and be a better person... not sure that counts as 'inspiring her' but it must be close.

  • To get a note like that from an ex girlfriend is really something. Notes from ex girlfriends are usually far less complimentary than that! :)

  • It's amazing how spending many hours on here can have a profound influence on your life. I was walking in the woods just the other day...

  • I've just watched your video Andy.

    What a coincidence! :)

  • Googling your YouTube username can be quite an eye opener can't it? Especially if you allow embedding & syndication on your videos.

Everyone should do that every once in a while :)

  • Thanks so much! I'll be checking out your vids more in the future, I'm sure ^5.

  • ...on a YT channel alone I don't think even the top partners make a living solely on that. It's multiple streams of revenue from different sites, product endorsements, appearances, etc. combined.

  • Probably the only traffic my site draws is from other places. It provides me with enjoyment and serves an unintended purpose I'm pleased about. The value for me, with the employment situation for mid-age people in the US being what it is, is is a sort of confirmation that I'm web savvy and technically current...a major problem for a lot of 45-62 year olds here.

On that note, it was a shock to me to recently find out that other website blogs were picking up my videos. That started all this!

  • Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it.

As i've said to somebody else in these comments. Anybody starting out on YouTube now must find it a little hard & pretty mind blowing too.

I've been here since 2006, so have a head start on a lot of people.

Your point about the videos with the most comments not being the best videos is very relevant. That's something that annoys a lot of us.

Why do some videos get all those views & comments?

    Enjoy your YouTube experience :)

  • I've often thought about setting up my own website, but have never got around to it. Partly because i don't have the skills to build it.

If i did, i guess the Adsense/click through side of things would be more relevant.

Also, i'm not business person. Obvioulsy if you are a personal website etc makes far more sense.

I'd love to know if anybody really does make a living from YouTube. Even if they do, it can hardly be a stable income. Unless it leads on to something else outside of course :)
