The 1 footed spin is the first spin a skater will learn. It requires spinning on one blade with the other foot by the side. This video takes you through a 1 footed spin, step-by-step with tips from me. A little like Expert Village, but in more detail.

---

*DISCLAIMER* I am not a qualified coach of any sort, and all the tips in my videos come from personal experience. Some of the tips in the video may not work for you, and my videos are not a magic formula to make you good at skating. Attempt what you wish at your own risk, but consulting a coach is encouraged. If you really do wish to teach yourself jumps (which I can't complain about really, because it is what I did,) then feel free, but learning them in this order would work best:

Waltz Jump
Salchow
Toe Loop
Loop
Flip
Lutz
I REALLY ENCOURAGE TO CONSULT A COACH BEFORE THE NEXT JUMPS:
Axel
Double Salchow
etc.

If YOU have any tips to give to ME to improve my videos, you are more than welcome to contact me in any way. Also, if you have any other requests, problems or complaints, let me know.

  • What's with the 'hair flip' you keep doing while talking? Your hair isn't really in your face. Good job on the video, though! :)

  • @thevaliantcrusader I'm an incredibly nervous speaker. I can't help but fidget. I'm also wringing my hands continuously throughout the video.

  • isn't that oxford ice rink?

  • @joshie228 Yep!

  • Firstly, I hope your knee is fully recoverred. Is it back to normal yet? Secondly, I'm just starting to learn this spin. My trace on the ice looks like a succession of 3-turns instead of loops, and I almost always have a toe-pick spin mark at some point. Is there anyting in particular that I'm doing wrong?

  • Thank you. It is not painful anymore, but still very bruised. I can't think of a specific thing you are doing wrong, I'm afraid.

  • ...you are watching the one foot spin video.

  • Hey :)

You're really good! I have been trying my one foot spin for what seems like forever...sometimes I get it, sometimes I don't. I don't know if it's a confidence thing or me not doing it right...I have only ever done a superb one once and it felt amazing! My coach is a legend and is helping me out in so many ways, but I just can't do it THAT right, you know? Any tips?

    Thanks

  • Your videos are really really helpful!

  • @fazza2010 You do the deep outside edge like she said, but then she left out the tree-turn. You do a three-turn to start spinning. When you do a one foot spin it is on a backwards edge because in a two foot spin that same foot is on backwards edge also.

  • your so beautiful. you remind me of keira knightly

  • Hey Gina I have been working on my one foot spins for a very long time now but when I go into the spin I hold the open position for literally half a revolution and then go into a two foot spin it's really annoying how I keep doing that any tips?? Xx

  • I try this spin but I just end up doing a 3-turn instead. it's so annoying, any tips?

  • Hey,

Is it you spinning in the backround? It's really good! You can also do it off of a two foot spin, right? That's how my coach taught me, but you are DEFINETLY more specific.

    Thanks

P.S. I love your accent! I have a friend that tries to teach me how to talk like that, but I'm not good at all.

    P.S.S Please reply!

  • I LIKE THAT BRITISH ACCENT!
