Dean Potter is characterized by creativity, commitment and challenge. He started climbing as a child, with a free solo fall from a stone wall as one of his earliest memories. Since that time, he has speed soloed Half Dome and El Capitan, Cerro Torre, and Fitzroy. He was the first to make a one-day free ascent of El Cap and Half Dome, and a one-day speed linkup of both of those big walls and Mount Watkins, Yosemites third Grade VI wall. He has also established testpiece crack routes in the Utah desert and highball boulder problems in Yosemite.

Dean has walked the longest highlines, often without a safety leash, though he has dedicated over a decade of engineering and testing to create the safest highline systems currently used. Most recently, he has combined BASE jumping skill with highlining and free soloing, using a specially engineered ultralight BASE rig as his backup system.

Dean currently bases out of Yosemite, where he can usually be found on a large piece of granite.

LOL....Why do cops act like that? Most cops I know drink and drive and have lived such a scared trained existance that they are jealous of those of us who are willing to push lifes bounderies. They are pathetic little men with a false sense of power backed up by a corrupt natzi like government. Who the hell is that terd to tell a person what he or she can do or can't do in nature as long as it is not hurting the envrionement or poaching an animal.

I get that from game wardens all time. There is one game warden in particular who is ridiculously rude every time we meet. He talks down to you and always makes sure you know that if you don't have your i.d on you he can detain you until it is proven that you are who you say you are. Cuz according to him this is " post 911" and I could be a terrorist. For christ sake I just want to do some climbing man. They get all aggressive and all I'm trying to do is spill chill over the hill.

it doesn't matter, the guy achieved more than you can even think off. he felt stuff you probably never have in your whole life when you die. he lived his dream, even if he dies, that's as great as it can get. if someone can cross borders, even after his death, it's people like him. our dreams are very important. we dream when we die.

we all have to die sooner or later, that's our destiny. better die falling off a cliff than in an old age home from a stroke from smoking after a coward life.

"There is no doubt in my mind that he will definitely fall to his death...sooner or later."

There's absolutely no doubt in mind we're all going to die. He'll do it, doing what he loves.
