@TheSmashcan I'm pretty sure he's not very bright. At all.

@YiftertheShifter1 Wow good stuff bro. I agree 100%. Sad though, i wish there was still riders that could win paris roubaix and tour of flanders and then win the tour the same year like a real all rounder should.

@wwtdd1 Well last year Cadel was 5th overall and he certainly was trying to beat Ivan Basso (the eventual winner) on the Zoncolan, so it does show some overall ambitions. He was the "best of the best" in this year's tour, so again your statements contradict reality. Well, I also mentioned Hinault, Indurain, Pantani, and add Roche, Fignon, and others. There are some who use the Giro just as training for the Tour, but winning the Giro or the Vuelta is not nearly as easy as you make it to be.

Your comment was, I quote, "2 giros and 1 vuelta dont compare to one tour. The best of the best are not at the giro or vuelta. Theyre at the tour every year." Well, here I just provided several examples. And in Eddy Merckx's days, sport (and indeed the whole professional world) was not as specialized as it is today: just as there are doctors who deal specifically with the heart rather than the whole body, there are cyclists who do just one-day classics versus three week tours.

@wwtdd1 Your comment was specifically, "2 giros and 1 vuelta dont compare to one tour.

@YiftertheShifter1 i thought we were talking GC contenders bro. and cadel evans is not at the giro (if he was this year) trying to win anymore he does it for training for the tour. And in th eddy merckx days racing was racing! every race they had to win because they were true racers none of that "im saving myself for worlds or the tour" bullshit like they have these days you know like lance and contador so you cant really add merckx here because racng was so different back then.

@wwtdd1 I don't know about the Schlecks, but Cadel Evans was at the Giro last year (winner of the points jersey). Mark Cavendish and Alessandro Petacchi were there this year... or do they not count as "best of the best?" Or how about Marco Pantani and Mario Cipollini in the past, or Eddy Merckx, Indurain, Hinault, and others? Andy, Frank, and Cadel weren't there because they focus specifically for the Tour; in this day and age, cyclists usually peak for one Grand Tour a year.
Lance's comment was about Contador needlessly attacking in '09, costing Lance AND Contador's *TEAMMATE* Kloden a podium finish.
Contador is either very selfish and/or not very bright.
