  • I'm a painter myself. My spouse once asked me why I had marked off a large canvas in a grid of squares to paint a photo - it's cheating! I said that I could do it freehand without the grid but it would take much longer, and since the painting would be sold for the same price anyway, I preferred to spend less hours on it. If artists were paid by the hour, most would be rich.

  • A projector saves time. You can draw squares and do each small area little by little. Or you can draw a little bit, run back 20 feet, see if it is in perspective, run back, draw another bit and so on. Once the basic outline is drawn in, the real work starts. The art is in the concept and design and the technical execution (applying the right colour paint in the right places). Purists want you to do it the hard way because the old masters did it that way (ie they didn't have projectors).

  • This is art ! I am a muralist, 50% of my work is hand drawn then transferred to transparency. I used to feel like I was cheating but no - It is my work on a larger scale. Try doing it once ppl and you will see how 'easy' it really is ... it's the details after the projector that really count. see mine ' The Wall" amoung others - that is art - try replicating it !

  • con proyector cualquiera pinta

  • Not at all. That's how most artists (especially character artists) perfect their designs. Pages and pages of going over the form and adding or subtracting this detail or that.

  • yeah see when i paint my murals for a customer i draw what i need on a 8 by 11 paper then transfer it to a transparency and then shine it onto the wall usually a lot bigger then his but i was wondering is that considered cheating. lol

  • con cañon de proyeccion yo tambien puedoo!

  • Great imagery. Of course he traced it... But where do you think the original art came from?? Come on. think about it. He just transfered his work to a projector.
