Night of the Undead Film Makers!

This is my entry for Little Richs Halloween SpookyNatural contest. This is one of the hardest projects I have taken on to date. I was shooting for a Night of the Living Dead feel for the film. The footage is of two grave yards near us. The opening footage is from an unmarked small community one and the other is the larger well established one just 10 minutes away.

This turned out to be about 15 minutes of footage that was trimmed and smashed down to about 2:50 and then again to 1:20 for a final right about 1:00 and then squashed one more time to hit the 50 second mark..

Audio was recorded using my Samson CO1U USB studio condenser microphone. All effects aside from bass boost for the voice over were added post in Sony Vegas using standard audio plugins. Individual main voice track had to be re-rendered to one single file to keep Sony Vegas from skewing the time line. Sony Vegas refused to properly align the audio when I was using the 15 different segments of audio.

This project required me to re-render the main video segment twice to get the vignette setting correct and properly blur the text portion of the footage to match it. A sloppy mask was used intentionally to render old film look. New blue FX Film Look was used to obtain a film like appearance first and then it was converted to black and white with loads of gamma to crush the blacks and blow out the highlights.

night of the undead Film makers..great idea lol! I was getting really drawn into the vid with all the well put together and edited material, sucked in by the dark voice and then LOL what an ending!
