  • Try the Powell and Pressbuger movie website (google it)

  • He was in the British Army's "Phantom Squadron" recon unit but always refused to talk about it.

  • I've loved this movie for a long time too. I'm especially fond of the end of the courtroom scene when the camera pulls back from the amphitheater and back and back until you see it's really a spiral galaxy. Incredibly innovative for its .. or any other .. time.

  • They don't make movies like that anymore.

Fuck Hollywood now and from the 60's.

That along with it's a Wonderful Life don't need HD/3D bollocks.

  • This is and always has been my favorite movie. Not perfect, but as close as you can get when discussing the deeper points of existence. I agree that Marius Goring is one of the best, most versatile actors that ever existed. I'm sure Niven knew their scenes together were all Goring's. I would invite anyone reading this to look at a variety of his movie and tv work just to get a sense of this man's range. The scarlet pimpernel 50's tv show, and the film "Circle of Death" stand out.

  • love this movie with it's haunting music. need to try and get the soundtrack

  • @jsl151850b It is. It is in colours unseeable by mortal human eyes.

  • @13Orcun not much luck, i found an album with one track from A Matter of Life and Death, it is called The Red Shoes - Music from the Films of Powell & Pressburger (Remastered). the track is pretty much an overture of the main theme. have you managed to find the soundtrack?

sorry about the very late reply.

  • the piano in the back ground could someone do me a HUGE favour and tell me what/where i can find it?

  • levanyzzuf. You're right- he played the lead in the TV show The Expert for a number of years but he was never huge.I don't suppose that bothered him at all.

  • @NickRatnieks Marius Goring was never a Big Star.

  • I once worked as a theatre cleaner and Marius Goring was playing King James I in a play there. I just wish I had plucked up the nerve to talk to him although I did go to the production. When you look at his expertise and talents- it just reminds one that so many Big Stars these days are just puffed up airheads with titanic egos.

  • @jsl151850b Again, I disagree - The entire THRUST of the film is that he loves LIFE, here on earth, right now. Hence the earthly existence is in color.

  • @herzco I choose to disagree.

And were it remade in the present

I think Mortal Existence should be in 2D

    and Heaven in 3D.

Come on! Heaven should be unimaginable!
