"That unnamed Left 4 Dead add-on will only be playable on the original game, not in the sequel." - Kotaku

Hitler finds out that the DLC he waited for so long isn't quite what he expected!

Please note that while the video here somewhat represents my opinion on the new DLC, my actual thoughts on the matter aren't nearly as extreme as shown in the video, they are merely adjusted to Hitler's ranting :P
Some parts don't even represent my opinion at all, such as Valve being officially dead.so please don't try to argue with me based on what is "said"(subtitled?) in the video.

Also, don't get me wrong, i'm more than happy that something is actually coming to L4D, especially since this, as a mapper, probably means more models and textures to work with, but i'm really disappointed by the fact that Valve made sure that not only did it not add any reasons why one should choose Left 4 Dead over its erm... sequel, but it took two away, since you will now be able to play No Mercy and play as the original survivors in Left 4 Dead 2.

  • I know this was made a year ago, but VALVe is nothing short of phenomenal. It's not about replacing fans, it's about giving the fans more. If they never bought Left 4 Dead 2, they're probably not dedicated fans. Either that, or they don't have the money. But if that was true then you couldn't get the Dlc anyway. VALVe is still one of the greatest, and will always be honest.

  • @AccursedSniper Really? I've never seen people demanding Team Fortress 3 so damn much before L4D2. I don't know what you call that if not replacing.

You say they're giving fans more, but they are actually *selling* the fans more of the *same*.

I'm saddened that your idea of a loyal fan is one who blindly buys everything the devs spit out.

No-one can say if Valve will be honest but I can say that promising to support a game and then neglecting it is by no definition "honest".

  • @Imp0s5ible I understand where you're coming from. And I'm not saying that true fans are the ones that blindly buy everything, I just mean that people need to trust that Valve. I see people getting upset because something isn't exclusive. This subject is arguable, but is pointless.

We know that Valve makes games that are fantastic. Whether it's exclusive or not shouldn't be a factor. Why not? Because that's like saying that only PC gamers can get and Xbox can't.

This should not be an issue.

  • @AccursedSniper I trusted Valve enough to buy Portal 2, and I wasn't disappointed.

However, I'll think twice about believing Valve when they make promises again.

The issue over exclusivity isn't due to jealousy, or any reason like that.

It was because Valve initially promised the Sacrifice to be L4D-exclusive, and that gave hope to L4D players that it might regain some ground.

Then Valve shattered these hopes by making it non-exclusive, amongst other things.

  • @Imp0s5ible I don't know when you heard it was exclusive. I heard it would be for both games, and I heard that when it was first announced. You must be mistaken.Or maybe it's me. But I'm 90% sure that it was announced to be for both games. Maybe people thought otherwise because it followed the original survivors.

  • @AccursedSniper It's true, it was never really said that "The Sacrifice", by that name, will be L4D-exclusive.

Valve originally claimed to be working on L4D DLC, but they didn't give it a name, or much info on it.

After they announced that the name of this DLC will be "The Sacrifice", they also announced that it would be for both L4Ds.

Since YouTube doesn't let me post links in the comments, I'll send you a link to the original article via PM, and I will also put it in the description.

  • The problem with VALVe is that they can't count to three.

  • "valve is just another EA?" thats very harsh since EA single handedly killed the command and conquer red alert franchise in one game i doubt valve could manage that.

  • @GrimmjowMaX Yes there is, actually. If you own L4D, you can't play L4D2, that's illegal. On the other hand if you own L4D2, you can't play L4D because that is against the law as well.

However, if you own both games you can play either of them wherever and whenever you like.

  • I'm not understanding.... is there some law that states if you own/play l4D, or l4D 2... You can't play the other? If so.... I may be in trouble
