Everyone views people as objects. People mainly talk to others for personal gain (not in a narcissistic sense.)

You called out all the obvious. Other occupations are any trade or craft which is unique. Something few other know how to do, or can. They will be sure to let you and everyone else know how they are the best at what they do, whether they are or not. Thus they receive praise and the feeling of outstanding accomplishment they crave to be acknowledge for.

@panderton83 Maybe he also has OCD. -LOL. I noticed that too, but I like it. It provides a certain cadence that I enjoy. It also gives him a chance to show of his vocabulary. Who knows his reasons - it's just his personal style.
