    The knot you actually demonstrate with your hands is called a half hitch. It is not a whip finish knot. The Matarelli tool you show IS for making whip finish knots but that is not what you show using your hands.

    Thanks for going to the trouble of producing a video to help people learn about fly tying but the knot you are showing them is called a half hitch. It is not a whip finish knot. The Matarelli tool you show is for producing a whip finish but what you show with you fingers is not a whip finish knot.
