This is a acoustic "guitar lesson" version of "Copperhead Road" by Vince Dixon - Great acoustic guitar party tune and one of my favorites.

  • I pretty much play it the same way with standard tuning, with a regular G, but everyone else seems to use drop D. I shove a C chord in there too, especially in the last verse, to change it around a bit... but you play it a lot better than I do. Nice video.

  • @Adnamira - Glad you liked it. For me the drop D makes the the tune. It can ring while the intro notes are played and sort of mimics the bagpipes in the original, great when playing solo.

  • Great job, video is a little dark so makes it difficult to see, but great job

  • Thanks, yeah the lighting wasn't the best. I have a new camera now and my newer posts are much clearer.

  • Sounds good great lesson but its to dark to see what your doing could you do one telling string and fret and strum pattern

  • could you re do this vid? would be nice thanks your a great instructor. thanks

  • I used to think that this song was just a southern Amercian song, but I watched the show on moonshining and realised what this song was all about. I love it

  • great! thanks

  • Thanks much. I can play it.

  • Love the vid. How are you playing the G chord in Drop D? I've been fretting the 6th string at the 5th fret and fretting the 1st string at the 3rd fret. Also I think playing the C without fretting the 4th string at the second fret sounds right.

Also the album version is definitely in D, but when Steve plays it solo he appears to take a Keyser capo and put it on strings 1-5 only at the 2nd fret. This way you can use a standard shape G (A) chord but you still have that open sixth string droning.

  • i am officially requesting a updated tutorial on this, i like how you're doing the lead, but i can not figure it out!

  • can't figure out what your doing when you shift to the higher chord. I'm a beginner, but you don't explain clearly what you're doing.

  • Thanks so much for the lesson. Very informative. Your a great instuctor. You make it fun!!! Thanks again. I can now add Copperhead Road to my rep.

  • Very nice man, wish that I could see more but great video!!
