Notice how this leg mechanism is not the simple "piston crank" style of leg always used, instead it uses many linkages and 4-bar functions to get a compound motion, the result being almost no up/down bobbing with each step (like most "piston crank" walkers have) so there is much less wasted energy, everything is just put into moving forward. The robot steers with skid steering, although I did not put that in the video because I'm still working on the PS2 controller interface and its program, so right now I just have forward/backward and winch.
Nice spider, saw it at the Klann site, check out mine on youtube and let me know what you think of it.

Agreed with Jony5club, in school, an assignment I'm on needs me to get a car up and down a very steep slope. I'm way ahead and felt the need to build a shooting mechanism to get this grapple up to the top, and a winch. However, in my winch, the gears won't fully engage, and the motor easily gets overwhelmed by the simple task of pulling itself up. Maybe your design is more sturdy?
