'The Tin Bath Extra', running in disguise in the first scene as 'The Jacobite', a few hundred miles south of it's usual route, featured two of this seasons stalwarts from the West Highland extension, black fives 45231 'The Sherwood Forester' and 45407 'The Lancashire Fusilier' running from Manchester through the Hope Valley to Sheffield and then via Barnsley to Huddersfield and from there to Blackburn via Copy Pit before returning to Manchester. In this video the train is first seen at Lowton near Warrington with the empty coaching stock from Preston followed by a shot from above the mouth of Cowburn Tunnel. The next shot is of the train restarting from Penistone and crossing the magnificent viaduct and finally, in the gathering gloom, approaching Copy Pit summit. The last shot is best viewed with the volume turned up high!!!

  • Absolute perfection!

  • Thank you, this was one of those magical days when things worked out as planned, great performances from the locos and crews

  • I was sent this as "Steam Porn" by an old school mate in Australia. I sent it to others in Singapore and in the UK. I can only say ignore all the ones above who describe it as misty, grey or whatever. The atmosphere you caught was superb and shows what a skilled person with a camera can do. Why do all the critics want everthing perfect, taking no notice of scaredy sheep etc. and the Autumn? Typical anoraks! And I'm a tram and third rail chap myself, so double congratulations.

  • Thanks very much, it was a misty grey sort of day so you can only film what you see. I was quite pleased with the results given the conditions.

  • Wonderful to watch, plenty of inspiration for newcomers to the video world. Well done.

  • Thanks very much for your very kind comments
