I took some of the feedback from those who made comments under my previous recording and have incorporated a few changes into this version, most notably tempo, tonging, and phrasing. I love this etude, so my interpretation may not a canonical one, strictly speaking, but it's a musical one. Mark Gould asked me to play the middle section of this etude starting on the low Bb for my audition to Juilliard, but that was a long time ago...1983.

  • Very Nice!!! Thanks. Who did you study with if you mind me asking?

  • @justwannaplay8 Thanks. My two main teachers were Peter Crino (Buffalo Philharmonic and NYC Ballet) and John Ware (NY Philharmonic).

  • Wow Dude...I have been working on this piece for awhile now on Euphonium and think you are playing the everliving @#$% (add your own word) out of it. Thanks!! Great playing and helpful to hear a really great interpretation!

  • yep, yep, sounds wonderful

  • The tone is great! You recognised all the crescendos too. To improve, you could make more of the dynamic levels, and tounge more gently on notes that are not accented. Watch out for that Low Ab right before the stringendo, it doesn't sound slurred. Overall impressive tone carries the entire thing. Nice job.
