Manhattan is for millionaires. Not people making less than $100K trying to live the Sex and the City lifestyle. Move to Queens or Jersey. Who cares if Carrie Bradshaw never went there. Living in an apartment the size of a dog house is in no way shape or form impressive, even if it's in Manhattan. I know many people making $250k+ and even they refuse to live in the city because of the value. Playing the part doesn't mean you actually have the money to support your fake fabulous lifestyle.

Sounds like the rent is $4,000, so roommates pay $2,000 each. There are studio apts. on the Upper East Side starting at $1,500 --however, they rent rather quickly... so one must be extremely fast in their decision-making process.

Can somebody please answer this for me? When she sais rent is 2,000 is that per room mate or the rent total, do ppl split 2,000 in 3 parts if there's 3 roommates? also if 2 ppl live there already and you move in as a room-mate you still have to pay deposit, last month and first month right?

@ThePeterson21 . A lot of native New Yorkers also work their asses off going to college, but they understand that New York is more than just the West Village, the Upper Eastside or Chelsea, etc.. Nobody is telling anyone to move to a slum, but the problem with newbies is the snob factor. They want to be able to tell the folks back home that they live in the heart of the Big Apple, in the middle of everything. Its not the same to tell the folks back home that they moved to Staten Island.

@Rayarena it's a sense of entitlement...don't want to work hard and want designer clothes, and eat out every night, and don't forget the latte every morning and partying on friday & saturday nights

@rayarena, "newbies" dont work their asses off at college to move to the slums of new york. that like moving to the south side of chicago, not really chicago........
