love this song it was,nt a hit in the uk despite being played on the radio a lot in 1963 bought it though loved the earthy 12 string sound

I was 11 when this came out. First heard it at summer camp, along with Tie me Kangaroo Down Sport. The Hootnanny craze. I believe that Gene Clark (Byrds), Stephan Stills, (Buffalo Spingfield, CS&N) and maybe Michael Nesmith (Monkees) all came from this scene.

Believe it or not, former California Congressman Leroy Greene used this as his campaign theme song. I don't know whether the New Christy Minstrels knew this at the time or approved it.

Love these guys and the music. Really brings back memories from the 60's. For anyone in the Los Angeles/Orange County area during that time do you remember Tim Morgon at Socrates? Wish there were some video's of him. What a great folk singer, but at least we can still buy his albums/CD's from his website. Thanks for all the fabulous music.
